What's this got to do with men's rights? Well, I, for one, think it makes for an interesting comparison.

It's not like this guy is getting widespread support in Egypt.

Islamic cleric Mazhar Shaheen wrote on Facebook that Agina should be forced to take a medical exam to ensure he was "mentally capable".

"Either this guy really wants to become famous or is suffering from sexual obsession," the preacher said.

That said, this looks like a legitimate women's' rights issue. Good luck to Egyptian women in combatting this sort of controlling attitude.

One of the things I think makes the men's' movement far less toxic than feminism, is that it doesn't take an inhumane, absolutist position on women's rights (at least not that I have seen) and try to deny that women have problems that should be taken seriously and dealt with.

I'm more than happy to believe that Egyptian women probably do have to battle with patronising chauvinism in their day-to-day lives. Now how about we also consider the impact of the very real feminist chauvinism in the West and its impact on, for instance, boys' education?

That really sucks for those women and it's not right to treat them that way; however your explanation for why you think this belongs here does not make sense to me.

The western world is in a crisis when it comes to men's rights, and a common strategy for feminists in the western world when they are confronted with the argument that they have equality under the law is to point the finger at some other country and say that because women are oppresses over there, all women are still horribly oppressed and thus men's issues are swept under the carpet again.

Why are secret marriages a problem for students attending university?

Is it something stupid like education is free for single women but married women have to pay?

I don't read or speak arabic but knowing what I know of most media we are only fed part of a story.
