This refers to the action in California, not the ongoing appeal in New York.

Remember she is not suing for 'sexual assault', she is suing for relief from her contract with Sony, Kemosabe Records, KMI, Prescription Songs, etc. A contract that she signed having retained the legal advice of a lawyer who was familiar with the music industry. A contract that explicitly states that the legal jurisdiction of the contract shall be New York. Yet she started an action in California anyway.

TL'DR: Asking a court to rule on a contract that explicitly states all parties agreed to another jurisdiction doesn't usually work.

And while she has been able to perform at select events like the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, the singer hasn't been able to release new music as the case continues.

Come on ... Sony has offered, and Dr. Luke has agreed, that if she wants to work with another team from within Sony, even something outside Kemosabe, that she can. They have made it very possible for her to record without ever having to see him in the flesh or communicate with him.

She is choosing to interpret this as blocking her from recording, because they won't let her out of her contract, but that's just PR.

I don't know if this is an outright lie, or the author is sadly underinformed on issue.

Kesha has been free to tour and perform at will, but has CHOSEN not to. she's made statements about not being able to tour because she doesn't have new music to perform ...never mind that she's STILL only 4 years from her last album release, lots of performers are touring with older music than that.

And nothing is stopping her from recording new music...she's again chosen not to because she's trying to "hunger strike" Sony to get out of her contract.
