they complained about the schools not being "fair" to girls so they changed the way we taught as to accommodate the girls. now the want to treat the boys as girls, so wrong

[–]MenandBoysareGood 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Academics said parents should do the kinds of activities normally done with girls to boost boys' language skills such as singing nursery rhymes and songs

Why stop there? Boys should also wear skirts and learn to pee sitting down. It's incredible how assumptions are thrown around instead of defining root causes based on sound scientific evidence.

They already had that idea.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

As someone who is about to finish school, literally all these things would be detrimental, especially at a time where boys are growing and finding their personal identities.

[–]Devastration 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's more or less what they want. Anything to curb the male impulse and try to "gentrify" (read: sissify) the modern male is a noble effort.

[–]shrekturself 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jesus Christ, no! Why is society so desperate to turn boys into subservient little princesses? Plus you're already treating them like girls anyway! Scarlett Letter? Give them some cool shit to read, like Isaac Asimov...

[–]The14thNoah 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Boys being treated like girls is why they are falling behind.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. But you can't tell these 'experts' this.

They just wanna pour gasoline on the fire. To try to put it out, of course.

[–]WaitingToBeBanned 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Correct me if I am wrong here, but was that not exactly the cause of their falling grades?

[–]AloysiusC 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If anything, boys should be treated as well as girls but that might result with some unexpected and very much unwanted side effects - particularly by women.

[–]NWOslave 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What's really frightening is the population demanding their own children aren't being indoctrinated young enough to properly serve the state. Just look at what the education system has produced over the last generation.

[–]InBaggingArea 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Just wondering how girls ever got behind in the first place...

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Girls typically don't do as well at non-language subjects. That's why the curriculum has changed so much to make the sciences more language-based.

[–]InBaggingArea -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So they're good at languages like mathematics and computer languages?

And what about philosophy? They're not so good at that.

Maybe old Aristotle was right all along: they're just less rational.

Not sure about that. Anyhow: 50 years?

[–]Funcuz 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Do you know any women ? They complain more. It's just a part of their sexual genetic identity. Not all women to be sure but it's not exactly a state secret since it's been noted since we first started writing this sort of thing down.

You're young, aren't you?

[–]Funcuz 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Ha ha. No, I'm old enough to tell the truth even when it doesn't fit the popular narrative. I'm old enough to remember when people didn't pretend stuff like this wasn't true.

I see here, the first link I stumbled upon, women have outnumbered men at British universities since 2008.

http://www.independent.co.uk/student/istudents/if-more-women-are-attending-university-than-men-why-are-men-likely-to-get-paid-more-in-the-workplace-a6760596.html

Perhaps you just like to complain a lot.

This one has a graph and puts the inflection point in at late 1970s.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/ccap/2012/02/16/the-male-female-ratio-in-college/

"Over the last 30 years or so, a dramatic reversal has taken place on Canadian university campuses. According to the 1971 Census, 68% of 25 to 29 year-old university graduates were male. Ten years later, women had more or less caught up to men, as only 54% of graduates were male. By 1991, women had become the slight majority, comprising 51% of graduates. In the 2001 Census, universities had clearly become the domain of women, as they made up 58% of all graduates. And according to the 2006 Census, women accounted for 60% of university graduates between the ages of 25 and 29."

So I don't really understand what your point is and why you can't make it clearly and with the support of statistics.

[–]fredfredmac 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yer in the wrong sub mate. Narrowing down your topic to bolster your argument is very /r/feminism -esque

[–]InBaggingArea -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes. I'm a feminist. That's why I'm an MRA.

[–]fredfredmac 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

English Your good not is, it is?

[–]Funcuz 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It seems you'd have a lot of trouble understanding the point since you can't follow it.

Go back and read our comments here. Actually read them this time and then respond. As near as I can tell you're just going off on some tangent that has nothing at all to do with what I wrote.

[–]InBaggingArea 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or you could give me a clue what it is I'm missing. Sorry if asking simple questions to clarify made you mad.

[–]InBaggingArea -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

So you're saying women have not been behind men in terms of numbers attending university any time in the last 50 years: is that correct?

[–]Funcuz 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Good grief, you're dense. Read this exchange again and try to stay on point.

[–]InBaggingArea 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I did read it again. But I'm too dense to see where I went wrong.

[–]Lethn 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

It's fucking Bristol university so I'm not surprised to see them suggesting this, let's not forget this is the place that had feminists signing a letter to complain about Bristol celebrating men's rights.

I passionately hated school when I was younger, I still do, so I can't imagine how much more horrible it must be getting now for boys in particular when it comes to the UK education system.

[–]JohnKimble111 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

signing a letter to complain about Bristol celebrating men's rights

Wasn't that York?

Anyhow, you're otherwise 100% correct. Misandrist Bristol University"academics" of note include Marian Hester and now her new sidekick Finn Mackay. It doesn't get any more extreme than those two.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh wait, yeah it might have been York, fuck! lol I hate the UK.

Well hey, that kind of thinking is what lead to this problem in the first place. Might as well double down...amirite ?

[–]cmumford 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So where is that study?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Coming from none other than the UK, literally Sweden in terms of feminism.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Surely Sweden is literally Sweden?

[–]Donuteater780 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sweden is double Sweden.
