Commenters have missed OP's point: The issue is not religion. The issue is that sex-segregation (in transport, chess, sports, ....) is approved when it is demanded by and/or benefits women but punished when requested by and/or benefits men.

They weren't doing it because they just didn't want to play against girls, they were doing it because of their religion. Fun fact, not only do Muslims have a genuinely misogynistic and patriarchal society, they believe that if they are killed by a woman in combat then they go to hell.

So that's probably where all of this stems from, frankly, I think this is fucking disgusting either way and no, particularly if it's just a friendly match. It's not like martial arts for instance which I can understand getting squeemish about but I'm going to have no problem calling anyone here pussies for getting that upset over playing sports against girls.

Honestly, looking at the background here, I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that they were not only girls but Catholic having something to do with it so there's a whole ton of silly shit going on here and this is coming from an Anarchist. You've got the added insult of them being women but also infidels on top of that who follow a religion they don't like.

I'm so fucking sick of governments who dance around issues like this just to protect peoples' fucking feelings, the Muslim team should have been told if they don't want to play they can fuck off and have the Catholic school play with another team that don't intend to ruin everything.
