I would agree this is the best course of action. But I disagree that it's not a shit test. If I react to these behavior in an angry way, the person of interest would lose interest in me. I was looking for the best way to handle the situation in the most stoic and calm way as possible.

Edit: I see any behaviour that is meant to draw out a strong negative emotion out of me, a shit test one way or another. I mean, if you really think about it, most shit tests are unacceptable behavior that should be examined and not tolerated.

You don't have to make it an angry or butthurt action.

Just say this.... "Hey, thanks for the date but it's obvious that we're not super compatible and I don't want to waste our time. Good luck to you, and it was great meeting you.", then go in for a handshake.

If she's not crazy and she really wasn't into you she's going to be happy that you cut the date short.

PS: At this point, it's obvious that she's already lost interest. I've never had a date glued to her phone, and if I did, I would already know that she's not interested, or I'm not interested.

If that's your interpretation cool but the alternative name to shit tests are "fitness tests" implied disinterest to see how well a man can handle rejection and gauge his self esteem and sense of value . A phone is beyond implied disinterest a phone is literally replacing her attention of you the man in front of her with digital attention of others.

To me there is no excuse for that , if she wanted to stay at home and check her likes all night she could have done that in pajamas on the couch . It is a waste of your time but it's your time not mine spend it as you like.

been thru this on a 1st date. i calmly said, "put your phone down unless it's an emergency. if you can't, you can finish this date alone."

note that our food was ordered and otw to the table & i was standing... prepared to walk out.

she put to down without a word... and it never happened again (while we dated).
