when she had questioned her son about the incident he had said: "She was my teacher, mum. What was I supposed to do?"...the mother of one of the boys told the court that her child had shown signs of anger, depression and even threatened to kill himself since the relationship with Himmelspach.

But of course, this part of the story is mostly ignored in favor of the "what teen boy wouldn't bang such-and-such?" stereotype

This teacher gets off on the power dynamics.

She could easily attract a man her age or older.

[–]keith_weaver 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

A comment (currently) above said she just had bad judgment and it would be the same regardless of gender. Basically, it's no big deal. Bull. Teachers have a position of power and it isn't a consensual situation. Will the boy be scarred for life? Probably not, but that woman has some fundamental issues that need to be dealt with and she has no place in the teaching community. If it were a man... good lord, he'd been lifted to the top of the flag pole by his testicles.

her child had shown signs of anger, depression

It will affect him when he starts dating.

[–]AtomicBLB 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

More than likely. I didn't consider what had happened to me to be sexual assault (it was 100% in hindsight) but when it came to future dating possibilities I noticed over time I had become much more hostile and defensive. It took over a year to get over it once I realized there was even an issue. I'm was an adult though so I don't know how much harder it may be for a teenager.

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Those are good points. A boy is in his formative years and this will affect his trust in women.

If a female teacher steps outside of her job constraints to take advantage of his teenage mind then who can he trust?

Because we are told women don't sexually assault and that as men we should enjoy it, it makes us put it away until someone who cares comes along and then we wonder if she is the same as the abuser.

I understand about your anger and confusion and I hope you can find peace with what happened to you.

[–]AtomicBLB 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah an adult from a place you are told from the time you are a child that you can trust should never be treated like this officer had done so. Abuse of power is abuse of power, the other details are irrelevant and least of all feelings shouldn't come into the matter.

Thank you though, yes I have made peace with that unfortunate event.

"signs of anger, depression"

Like he just broke up with someone he was probably in love with, or at least had deep feelings for. Sounds like a normal reaction.

[–]stormwolf9387 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree with you here in that the punishment is being lain completely different than if the genders were reversed. I however have no doubt that the situation is not very different versus a gender reversal. Bad judgement, and a degree of privilege, not understanding/evaluating the consequences of her actions.

I personally disagree with putting her on the sex offender registry, though I'd be against putting a man in her situation on the registry as well. Lose the license, for sure. We really need a complete overhaul of the sex offender registry. The current system is woefully inadequate, as it has no method of discerning the priest who gets convicted of 72 cases of child porn from the 19-year-old who gets put on the registry for consensual sex with the 17-year-old the day before her 18th birthday.

[–]SatanicMushroom 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why is this being downvoted? I'm genuinely curious, whether you agree or not there didn't seem to be anything unreasonable. Don't just downvote anything you don't personally agree with :/

Did she hold him down and violently rape him? No.

Did she blackmail him? No.

This whole authority power thing is such bullshit, its simplistic look at what are often complex power relationships.

What if she was more emotional/sexually invested then he was in the relationship.

What if his personality was stronger then her?

What if countless over possible scenerios that could complicate the power relationship between the two.

She had the power of giving him dention, he has the power to get her charged and potentially put in jail.

I hate when people whine about power inequality in a relationships, because power relationship are NEVER fucking equal, its a bullshit feminist fantasy that they can be, and on top of that the power dynamic is in constant flux depending on a whole host of factors.

Did she cheat on him and he found out, shift in power, did he cheat on a test and she did him a favour by covering it up, shift in power, does she buy him stuff, another shift in power, did he give her multiple orgasms for the first time in her life, again a shift in power.

So PLEASE stop staring into the Feminist Abyss, because the Abyss appears to be staring right back at you.

If we continue with this obsession with authority, power, and sex, then politicians, especially world leaders, will have to start taking oaths of celebacy, for they have authority over everyone.

So lets stop it with pearl clutching please.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You sound like a rape apologetic.

[–]keith_weaver 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually read this article and perhaps some literature on power dynamics. It's not looking into a feminist abyss, it's actually having an understanding of reality.

[+]EgoandDesire -10 points-9 points-8 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So lets stop it with pearl clutching please.

Thank you so much for saying this. This sub really is on its way to becoming male version of SJWs, especially when it comes to this issue.

I mean, not only was the boy 17, she's a fucking highschool teacher. "What was I supposed to do?". Better question, what was she going to do? Give you bad grades? Keep you after class? Be mean to you in class? I think either the mother is overreacting or this kid is one of the most spineless motherfuckers in existence.

[–]II-Blank-II 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe the kid is a spineless motherfucker. Does that make it okay for a woman almost twice his age in a position of authority over him to coerce him into a relationship?

I'm sorry, but this is rape, according to current law. How fucked up is this woman for wanting to fuck not only a student but a kid half her age and then keep a relationship. So fucking weird, and so is everyone who defends it.

[–]EgoandDesire -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh my god you hysterical cunts. This sub really has turned into male feminism 101. Congrats on becoming everything you hate

She's not a sex predatory, she's just a teacher with bad judgement.

Their were 17 years old not 12 years old, months away from being old enough to do porn, the cop's right. The same would be true with the genders reversed.

[–]keith_weaver 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Welp, had it been a male teacher, as with this one, they would/should have been jailed and not allowed to teach afgain. Yes, there is a difference between a 17 and 12 year old, but there is no difference when you have a an adult authority figure and a minor child. There is no way to excuse this behavior.

[–]Snowfire870 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Plus according to the article 17 isnt legal for them to have sex. Plus his words were. "She is my teacher what was I suppose to do?" which would indicate that its a power play and rape. But yeah reverse the genders and we wouldnt be having this discussion of But he is 17.

[–]realityinhd 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

The SJWs slogan of "rape is rape" comes to mind. So bam.

[–]omegaphallic 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The SJW slogan is stupid, lets raise the bar.

[–]realityinhd 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately we cannot raise the bar until a majority of people understand its stupid. If they were logical thinking beings, they would not have stood by their way of thinking in the first place. So the best way to show them the hipocracy is by literally showing them. When they realize that they (or their daughters) are no impervious to the dumb rules they set, they are ok with dismantling their rules.

However, as long as it does not effect them, they do not care.

[–]ShutupPussy -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

You can't decry SJWs and then use their slogans when they suit you.

[–]realityinhd 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I do understand that tone is lost in text so I'll make it clear......the entire statement was made in jest. However it is a valid argument to use their slogan to show them either A. They have to atleast live by the code they are spewing or B. Realize the inequality and/or silliness of their statements and become enlightened. Generally though only C. happens (the only incorrect option). They ignore your example because "it's different" and have emotional (not logical or rational) reasons.

[–]ShutupPussy 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The jest was lost on me (it's text, plus i've seen people legitimately repurpose sjw arguments on here before.).

I never understand why people make points against SJWs as if they were in a debate with them here. You're not showing them anything because this is a MR subreddit, not a SJW or neutral subreddit.

[–]Snowfire870 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

At the end of the day I understand it really isn't rape cause a 17 year old is capable(unless the kid truly felt he had no way to say no) but these are the rules they set and if they can't accept equal punishment for breaking these rules then they can't expect to take them serious either and fight against it. Double standards they bug the shit out of me.

[–]ShutupPussy 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We're all sick of double standard bullshit, but arguing it like you're trying to convince someone is really just circle jerking about it.

[–]Snowfire870 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I won't argue that.

[–]realityinhd 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I see your point but I disagree. Imagine this:

You and your friend are sitting at lunch by yourselves. He tells you the story. You put a smirk on your face and go "well, rape is rape. Throw her in a cell with the rest of the monsters and throw away the key".

I bet that all sounds fine to you and you "see" the point of it. There is no sjw around to hear your argument or the point, but it's still a common and accepted thing to say, which pokes fun at their arguments. Almost like an understanding between like people.

Well reddit is not in person like the lunch discussion is, but it is still treated like an open discussion between friends.

Plus it allows us to hone our ideas by bouncing off others with the same type of thinking.

[–]ShutupPussy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That's good example, but I think there is a big distinction between making a knowing joke between jest and circle jerking, which echo chambers like this and sjw subreddits have. The reason I call it out is because I think it does the opposite of honing our ideas. All it really does is move people to extreme views over moderate ones. I forgot what this is called but it's like a ramped up group think that only begets itself more and more zealously.

[–]realityinhd 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Ok I will concede and agree with you. It does make people more extremist and ultimately that is one of the biggest issues our state/country/world is facing. The systematic increase of devided and extremism in all sects and topics (thank globalization and the internet).

I'm not sure what can be done about it though?

[–]omegaphallic -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly!

[–]omegaphallic -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I'd still be defending the teacher even if he was a dude and it was a female student who got fucked.

And people can down vote me as much as they want, it doesn't change the truth, it doesn't make her a rapist.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

You're the 2nd rape apologetic I've seen on reddit today. Nice.

Edit: oh wait, you're the same person. Why am I not surprised..

[–]Reddit1990 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I kind of agree to an extent, but it also depends on the scenario and relationship itself. Sure, its totally legal to have sex with people at that age in other countries... hell, in some places its legal at a younger age than 17. But the student-teacher relationship is a tricky one, and whether or not its "rape" depends a lot on the maturity of the teenager and the events that occurred prior to having sex. I don't think it was rape in the traditional sense, assuming theres no violence or blackmailing. And its probably not the same as rape of a 12 year old. Its one of those borderline things in this country. But in the end, the law is the law and she broke it. She has to pay the price as deemed appropriate by the judge.

[–]Raborne -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But the mother of one of the boys told the court that her child had shown signs of anger, depression and even threatened to kill himself since the relationship with Himmelspach.

What man isn't driven to these things when a woman is involved?
