I've not actually heard feminists claim that, though I can believe it, but that's clearly not true.

The fact is that FGM is wrong, medically unnecessary, and it'd be a good idea if women stopped doing it. There is a minimum sentance of 16 years for doing it in the UK, although we've never actually been able to find a case to prosecute.

The problem is that they compare circumcision to type 3 FGM. Which is the most brutal form of FGM. They would be correct in that FGM type 3 is the same as cutting off the entire penis. Male circumcision is practically the same as FGM type 1-A: Removal of the clitoral hood. Not to mention, even minor stuff such as symbolic bloodletting. Poking a girl's genitals with a needle to symbolically draw a drop of blood. Is also banned under the law. It's a crime to cut off any piece of a girl's genitals, no matter how small. It's a crime to make an incision into a girl's genital, no matter how small. So in conclusion it's illegal to do things that would be comparable to male circumcision, such as Type 1-A FGM. It's also illegal to do things that are much less brutal than male circumcision, such as, symbolic bloodletting.

I haven't seen any make that claim, which is clearly ridiculous, although I can imagine Tumblr doing it. Still. I'm circumcised and sex feels really fucking good, so I don't really feel destroyed in life for having had it done, and yet it's a matter of bodily autonomy as well. It's bodily autonomy for both genders. Hence both should be banned in all places, but the punishment should be the same for either imo.
