As an stockmarket investor, if I see any company that in which I'm invested taking on unqualified women board members, I sell my shares. Company performance can only be severely decreased by non-merit based hiring practices.

During the last century, some countries made quotas for Jews. Those quotas mirrored their percentage in society. So say, Poland had 10% Jewish population, so it limited their participation in higher education to 10%. Somehow we consider those part of our history antisemitism, thus discrimination. But nowadays intervening in nature is totally fine.

I wouldn't be surprised if this law solidified a perception among board members that women in general are less capable then men.

We have the same problem with affirmative action in Ivy League schools here.

Any time you create a quota for a non-merit based criteria it's going to result in worse performance. This is just basic common sense. Norway just decided that they don't care about their economy as much as "gender equality."
