Van Creveld is an historian who has written an entire volume, The Privileged Sex, thoroughly debunking the feminist claim of historical oppression of women:

Summary: Today Martin van Creveld looks at the revolution in military affairs (the real one) — the integration of women into western armed forces. The Israel Defense Forces has the most experience with this, and their experience can help us understand our future. These are scraps of data, useful only because we have so little. What have been the roles of women in guerrilla forces? What are the comparative injury and disability rates of women and men in front-line units and jobs? Their comparative costs? Eventually we will get answers.

This analysis brings to light a conundrum for MR:

We want women to have equal obligations to men. This would imply being drafted at the same rate, dying in combat at the same rate, etc.

However, placing women in combat, in the same units as men, puts men's lives at risk and weakens military capacity.

One possibility for resolving this, may be drafting women and placing them in combat in separate units. However, this does not solve the problem that physical differences mean men will always be more useful and effective in war and defence, and so die in disproportionate numbers.

How can this conundrum be resolved in a way fair to men?
