Wait, but I thought 90% of them were already victims of human trafficking? Why aren't the police rescuing them from this victimization instead of putting them back out there on the street?

So now the customers have been driven underground and the sex workers will have to follow them. Which puts them in more danger.

This law may reduce the number of sex workers but the ones that remain will be left in even more danger because they will be forced to go to more dangerous lengths to meet customers.

I get the noble intent of helping trafficked people get away and get help. But by criminalizing the customers the assumption has changed from the "the sex worker is a criminal" to "the client is an abuser". And it also assumes that no one would be a sex worker of their own free will and that anyone who does it MUST be a trafficking victim.

And heres another thought.

Construction work, maid/bulter service, fishing boat workers, sex work, miners, etc....

Why is it that despite trafficked labor being used in all of these industries why isnt there a similar presumption that "anyone that hires a maid must be hiring trafficked labor"?

What makes sex work so uniquely special that that is the only industry where customers are criminalized for a consensual activity and all providers are assumed to be victims?

And one more thing.

Why isnt there more effort put into busting trafficking rings, you know, the only actual bad people that are bad by definition of what they are doing?

If the "act" or "transaction" is the problem, then what sense does it make to punish only one side of that transaction?

Just reinforces the pussy on a pedestal mentality.
