guy with pretty rough social anxiety issues here, have done a lie detector test twice, once in university to understand how the test works, another when we drunkenly snuck into the lab and tested it ourselves. Will readily tell you that that is false, the readings even on the baseline questions can fluctuate quite prominently between each and every question. when i did it in the middle of class i was apparently lying about being 22(at the time) later that night when i was drunk as a skunk, i was apparently telling the truth. When i did it in the middle of the class when asked if i ever cheated on an exam in any university classes, i failed. drunk as a skunk, passed. when i was in class being asked when i lost my virginity(literally NO friends at all in my class) i passed. in a room full of friends drunk as a skunk, i failed.

Lie detector tests, work, on certain people. but if you have a predisposition to anxiety of any form, it can hinder and outright botch the test, and if you want more than anecdotes to prove it, i can find my old paper i wrote specifically for that class detailing my opinion on the test, the machine itself, it's pros and cons, and its likelihood of failure(in case you couldn't guess yes, it was a psychology course, and yes, due to it in part being based on a machine and me taking a minor in electrical engineering i got the highest mark in the class ;D)
