The MHRM is worlds away from being able to even make an attempt at competing in the world of Money Politics. Just one Feminist Organization (NOW) has somewhere on the order of 20 MILLION dollars per year to spend.

If we start spending money on Lobbying, then they will redouble their spending and just plow us under.

The money we do have and can raise can be put to much better uses. Attend AVFM's conferences. Start other MRA conferences. Donate / found shelters for abused men. One of the biggest valid criticisms of the MHRM is that we don't do enough "real" activism. This would be a much more effective use of any money dedicated to helping advocate for Men's Rights.

I noticed from news stories posted here that all lot of the positive political actions in America at least were proposed and supported largely by republican politicians. I guess the rich men are starting to realise that they are being disadvantaged legally, and so are pushing their representatives to change the laws.

I think you could go so far as to say that the majority of the people in the first world could rightfully describe themselves as men's rights advocates if they chose to. The problem is the stigma that feminists have worked long and hard to attach to our group, which is extremely effective at stopping people who regularly advocate for mens rights from calling themselves MRA's. Because of this, the most effective way to gain support for our cause is to show very clearly that we are not the stereotypes they try to paint us with. If we can destroy the stigma (and make no mistake, it will take a long time), then I believe we will start seeing many prominent political figures, celebrities, and the like begin to identify with the movement. Unfortunately, right now, it is effectively career suicide to declare yourself a human rights advocate. We need to change that before we can see real progress.

Kind of related, whatever happened to that indy filmmaker who made TRP documentary? We donated quite a bit of money, haven't heard anything since.

I think lobbying is a complete waste of time, in terms of strategy, the other side is going to have far more money and influence that a relatively new and small time movement could ever hope to have. Even if you did have some magical millionaire willing to put money and time into it, lobbying is pretty much a war of attrition like most things based in law and politics so the side with the biggest capital reserves will win.

MRM is going to be far more affective at changing peoples' minds with documentaries like the red pill and similar efforts of simply encouraging discussion and not censoring anybody.
