“This is unfair. This is inequitable. This is not what we should be doing now,” said Sen. Arthenia Joyner, a Tampa Democrat. “I think this is a travesty, a disgrace and a shame that we would do this to those who have given their all for their families.”

What a fucking joke. You know what's unfair, Senator Joyner? What's unfair is the idea that a legal construct originally intended to simply subsidize spouses until they could get back on their feet after being freed from an abusive or troubled marriage, has been turned into a permanent Easy Street meal-ticket for women who want to not return to the workforce (Or are you saying you'd speak up just as loudly for a man who was being imprisoned because he couldn't find a job to pay his child support?). The travesty, Senator, is that women can initiate the vast majority of divorces (over 75%, last figures issued) with the majority of them being no-fault divorces, meaning they tore their families apart because they weren't Haaaaaaaaa~ppy...and idiots like you will champion them, even after it becomes obvious they're exploiting the system, as 'those who have given their all for their families'.

No, she didn't 'give her all', because if she did, she would think about the children's future and help raise them properly, rather than subjecting them to a fatherless life, and by extension a life of poverty (since having a father figure accessible is literally the best indicator of the success a child will have in life, economically) simply to satisfy her own mercurial and fleeting sense of satisfaction with her life. The women who pull that shit are selfish cunts, more concerned with their own momentary satisfaction with their own life than they are concerned for the innocent lives they are responsible for. And yet you, and other zealots like you, will champion them as victims. THAT is the real travesty, here, Senator...

Alimony is garbage. Life isn't guaranteed so why should steady life long income be from someone who is no longer your partner? What other advanced warm blooded species pays their ex mate income for life just because they broke up? None. The whole concept is unnatural and parasitic.

I'm in florida and been with same women for 7 years we have two kids, is common law marriage a real thing? I don't plan on getting married.
