So much for the idea that it's men who get "man flu" and complain about being ill and pathetic.

Let this company do it. They'll go bankrupt soon enough and no one will hear from them again.

Great. Then by the same logic women must admit they are physically not equal to men for a time every month. Very mature or them to finally confront this. Guess that also means for equality sake men in physical jobs will be given leave every time they get bruises or hurt themselves. Unless again they are stating women are inferior to men physically. Somehow however, I suspect this will only result in another example of feminists using double standards to play delicate princess one minute then tough Amazonian warrior equal to man the next. When it suits them.

Probably they should not be driving a car if they are having their periods! (This is joke). It is bad idea which I do not think is supported at all buy the majority of women. This policy is in danger of putting female equality back decades.

We're truly living in the twilight zone. I fully expect to see fainting rooms make a resurgence. So all those poor dainty little ladies can have some place to break into hysterics after walking to the mailbox.

Yet, at the exact same time, we're conditioned to see this weakness as being 'Gurl Power' and somehow progressive...

Feminism is stripping women of agency daily, and they are eating it up and begging for more, and yet NOBODY NOTICES!!!!

Except us that is, cause we hate them so much and all. /s

"Many companies are male-dominated and encourage long hours but there is a misconception that taking time off makes a business unproductive," she said.

???

"This is not about employees taking more time off but working more flexibly and efficiently around their menstrual cycle and encouraging a work-life balance.

"When women are having their periods they are in a winter state, when they need to regroup, keep warm and nourish their bodies. The spring section of the cycle, immediately after a period, is a time when women are actually three times as productive as usual."

The policy has been created as part of the Pioneering Period Policy: Valuing Natural Cycles In The Workplace seminar which will take place later this month. It is based on the work of Alexandra Pope, the founder and creator of women's leadership programme, Red School.

The following is an excerpt from the July 1943 issue of Transportation Magazine. This was written for male supervisors of women in the work force during World War II.

  • Retain a physician to give each woman you hire a special physical examination — one covering female conditions. This step not only protects the property against the possibilities of lawsuit but also reveals whether the employee-to-be has any female weaknesses which would make her mentally or physically unfit for the job. Transit companies that follow this practice report a surprising number of women turned down for nervous disorders.

  • Give the female employe in garage or office a definite day-long schedule of duties so that she'll keep busy without bothering the management for instructions every few minutes. Numerous properties say that women make excellent workers when they have their jobs cut out for them but that they lack initiative in finding work themselves.

  • Give every girl an adequate number of rest periods during the day. Companies that are already using large numbers of women stress the fact that you have to make some allowances for feminine psychology. A girl has more confidence and consequently is more efficient if she can keep her hair tidied, apply fresh lipstick and wash her hands several times a day.

  • Be tactful in issuing instructions or in making criticisms. Women are often sensitive; they can't shrug off harsh words the way that men do. Never ridicule a woman — it breaks her spirit and cuts her efficiency.

If gender income parity is taken to be a moral imperative, this policy requires men to work a month more than their female counterparts for the same pay.

There's also probably a observation joke to be made somewhere in there about women not coming to work increasing productivity.

That's fine. As long as we have our own leave.

When women have lots of estrogen in their blood, they get time off work.

Therefore, when men have lots of testosterone in their blood, they should get time off work too

If a business wishes to do this voluntarily, so be it. They'll pay the price for it in inefficient staffing. It is up to the men working there to negotiate equivalent benefits. Employment is a financial transaction, not a charity, and if some employees are receiving higher compensation (which flexibility is part of) it is appropriate to renegotiate terms.

If it's ever mandated by law we'll have real cause for concern, but likely businesses will fight back against that.

"When women are having their periods they are in a winter state, when they need to regroup, keep warm and nourish their bodies. ' Wow. Some seriously paternalistic misogyny. It's funny how often these attempts to shelter women end up just hobbling them.

This is my view and I'm what you guys would probably call a feminazi. It seems that if you go far enough along the liberal spectrum you go back round to being conservative again.

Um what? Menstruating is not traumatic neither is it painful in the least. Cramps and bloating and all other symptoms of menstruating a lot of the times are all in your head, they get worse if you acknowledge them. I do know this because I've had periods and I know women are vastly exaggerating them and I'm tried of the BS lies. If a woman cannot work on her period she is unfit for her job, simple as that, sure it seems very misogynistic but a period is lousy excuse for privileges.

I agree that women should not get to stay home from work just because they are on their period. However I disagree entirely with your claim on women exaggerating the pain. Ive had a piece of glass cut an eight inch long gash into my upper thigh, internal stitching and staples, no pain killers, kinda hurt, went to school the next day, no biggy. When i got surgery to remove my wisdom teeth as a teen, no painkillers the day after, couldn't eat hard food for a bit but hey, no biggy either. Periods for me on the other hand, the pain causes me to vomit and get dizzy, I have never been one to get queasy easily. Although, some months are better than others, and as I get older it gets better. However back to the original topic, this does not prevent me from missing work or complaining since i can easily take an anti-inflammatory and feel, okay.
