After Ghomeshi supposedly assaulted these women, all of them continued to have strong contact with him, sending messages suggesting that they both enjoyed their "assaults" and were hungry for more. None of them went to the police right away, none of them even broke contact with him, despite the plethora of services available to women in the event of any kind of trauma of this nature. What mystical power are we expected to believe that Ghomeshi had over these women, that he could compel them to continue to see him despite his supposed violent behaviour? Are they not strong, independent women, as feminists say they should be?

When else do we charge someone for engaging in sex that otherwise appears consensual? When one of the partners is a child (and usually a girl). The current "rape culture" hysteria (amongst other things such as the push to criminalize Johns for acts of prostitution) is nothing short of a full on advocation for a return to "simpler times" when women were wards of their fathers, husbands or brothers (and now the state) and were prevented from being held accountable, thus had few rights. Women, like children, it seems, are not sufficiently responsible to be treated as full adults.
