If we didn’t know that only men are domestic abusers, we might be tempted to point out that the scenario in this year’s Superbowl Domestic Violence PSA is far more likely with the sexes switched.

In my experience, it is the female partner who is much more likely to restrict their SO from going out.

There's a reason the wife is called "the ol' ball and chain."

there needs to be a campaign vs emotional violence.

That's a great example of how the DV industry fails consistently! Women tend to be much more coercive and use emotional blackmail to control their SO.

"The domestic violence industry has created a paradigm where women can physically block, shove, and even hit their partners and still not be considered the abusers."

It goes back a lot further than the domestic violence industry. think of the image of the woman slamming the man with a cast iron skillet. It's just the same old tradcon gynocentruic culture tarted up as high-minded.

I mentioned to my gf I got this kind of stuff from my ex-wife.

Gf said "Aww, was she mean to you?"

I asked her if she would say that to my sister when she was in an abusive relationship, and she quickly realized how insensitive she'd been and apologized. She owns up to her mistakes, which is nice.

Yes, if abuse is defined as the one in power exploiting and abusing, then women are almost always the abuser. Women today have 100%, complete, absolute God-like power in a marriage and even in a relationship, legally and in every other way. And part of that very power comes from, well, the DV machinery with a billion police officers and courts always right there looming above his head if he doesn't do exactly what she says and when because now 'abuse' is defined as anything a woman doesn't like that a man does.

Yes! Quite true - men can't call the police and accuse their wives of rape if they get rebuffed sexually or even if their wives actually do rape them. It is almost impossible for a man to have his wife or girlfriend summarily ejected form the home if he goes to the police and says he's "afraid." And since men are less likely to get child custody, it's nearly impossible for a man to enforce compliance with a threat of divorce.

You have it exactly right.

"And part of that very power comes from, well, the DV machinery with a billion police officers "

Exactly. Harnessing the coercive power of the state is a form of women's proxy violence -and sometimes non-state power, see also lynch mobs.

Thank you for this.

It would have been soooooo easy! So fucking easy.

Change the supposed moody abuser's name to "Pat" or "Jamie." Now, this PSA includes everybody, men and women.

Why would they NOT have done that?!
