Published academic research from Exeter University in 2013 of 215 child arrangement enforcement cases showed that the number of intransigent parents who deliberately ignored court orders was very small (4%).

are you kidding me? from just my second-hand anecdotal accounts, the number of mothers who prevent the agreed upon contact with fathers is easily over 30%. it doesn't get to "court order" because the father is too broke from child support to afford another call to the lawyer.

and even if it were 4%, how is that "small?" 4% of one million is 40 thousand fathers who have been systematically prevented from seeing their children.

Only 4%of drivers speed so let's not enforce the speed limit? Only 4%of women experience domestic violence so...

Well done getting a responce. It looks like you will need to find sypathhetic MPs and arm them with a rebuttal to the statement released though to have any hope, I've never heard or seen of a court order anywhere being enforced, and thats before they dismiss parental alienation.

It's never been good enough to wait 29days every time a new claim files in, shouldn't the police be able to respond and enforce a court order until the parties get to court?

That might make for an interesting Freedom Of Information request, number of court orders and number of enforcement actions over a given time.

Do they have FOI in the UK?

[–]aesopstortoise 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, although there has been recent talk from the government of limiting it further.

We should turn this into an action opportunity. If it gets 75k more signatures, they'll consider it for debate in parliment. Of course, it would be a good idea to get some MPs on your side first.

In a country where one in three non custodial fathers lose all contact with their children within five years this response is unconscionable.

Fuck the UK government. And not just over this. They're as corrupt as corrupt could be. Where's V when you need him?

Good on you for taking action.

"and there is no need to legislate to criminalise parents." What an odd thing to say. Think of all the ways they criminalize fathers.
