I know Reddit loves to vote more for emotional bias than for reason, but bear with me a moment. If the law is that life begins at the moment of conception, and if she had the accident previous to C-section...then at the time of the accident, the kid wasn't LEGALLY a person. I agree she is a shitty person and a shitty mother, and deserves to "accidentally" drown in a portapotty, but the law is the law.

Baby survived 6 days outside of it's mother. The child was a human. Have a man go kill a 6 day old child and see if the book gets tossed at him...I bet it would be.

Well a popular philosophical defintion of a person is: a being that is self aware and has the ability to see itself as a separate entity in time with a past and a future. So no, according to this definition, a 6 day old baby is not a person. That doesn't necessarily make what she did right and not worthy of punishment though.

Awfully misleading title. The fetus was removed from her after the accident and kept alive for 6 days and then died. What if she was in her 2nd trimester and they pulled the fetus out and somehow kept it alive for 6 days? Or 12 hours? Where are you drawing your line with this one?
