Whether the girl was the one who inserted the mop handle or not, she is equally culpable in the crime.

Aggravated assault, forcible confinement (kidnapping?), rape, possibly attempted murder (head strikes with a frying pan)... and she gets 9 months. Yeah women are SOOOOOO oppressed....

A Prince George teenager has been sentenced to nine months for her part in brutally assaulting two men she believed sexually assaulted her while she was asleep.

The pair of men were struck with an empty bottle, frying pans, and one of them was sexually assaulted with a mop handle — no culprits, however, were ever arrested by police for the suspected sexual assault that sparked the whole thing.

According to court records, it all began in January 2013 in the middle of a multi-day house party when the teen, who was sleeping in a bed with another woman, awoke in the belief that the pair had the same dream of being sexually assaulted during their sleep.

There was also a white iPod stuck to Ms. P’s body that didn’t belong to her.

“Using what can be described only as deficient detective skills, Ms. P came to the belief that the assailant was connected to the white iPod that had been left in the apartment,” the judge wrote.

The teen and six others, though social media, determined the iPod belonged to a Mr. P, who along with another man would be found by first responders the next day in a snowbank, beaten and bloodied.

The man was invited down to an apartment, where the seven accused, including Ms. P, — 15 at the time — were waiting.

He was shown the iPod and an explanation was demanded — then the group attacked.

“The group closed and locked the door … then continued to strike Mr. P with their fists … another one of the co-accused struck him in the forehead with an empty vodka bottle and another kicked him in the face,” said the judge.

At some point, Mr. P managed to convince the group he wasn’t involved in the suspected sexual assault. That’s when the group accused his cousin, a Mr. W, of being the culprit.

The man was then forced to lure his cousin to the apartment via Facebook message — he wasn’t allowed to leave until his cousin showed up.

Mr. W was similarly attacked after arriving at the apartment.

“Ms. P hit Mr. W on the head with a frying pan two times … four of the assailants, including the co-accused, rolled him over, and one of the assailants removed his pants and sodomized him with a mop handle.”

According to the court, RCMP conducted a subsequent investigation into the suspected sexual assault of the two young women — police were told “nothing had happened.”

This was in Canada where prison sentences are ridiculously short. I've seen murderers get only a few years. So it was probably pussypass combined with canadapass.

“Ms. P hit Mr. W on the head with a frying pan two times … four of the assailants, including the co-accused, rolled him over, and one of the assailants removed his pants and sodomized him with a mop handle.”

Even in Canada, if someone had done (or had taken part in having done) those 3 things:

  • Hitting someone in the head with a frying pan.
  • Forcibly removing that someone's clothing.
  • Penetrating that someone with a mop handle.

to a female (especially one that was innocent of what they thought they were avenging here), is there any way in hell that they would have gotten off with a 9 month sentence?

This case is an excellent example of the fact that not only are females afforded far greater leniency in sentencing, but that any sort of crime perpetrated against them is considered far more severe.

There is NO way that one can argue justice is equal, when comparing how it treats male vs female.

I don't doubt that sexism is prevalent in Canada as well. I'm just saying, even if a male had done this to another male, the sentence would likely be less than 5 years. Maybe less than 3.

[–]jvardrake 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And if a male had done this to a female?

[–]horusreb0rn 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hmm well had this female not been to the party, or drinker excessively, I'm sure this could have been avoided

[–]OniTan -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It wouldn't be longer as far as I know, but I can't think of any recent examples of high profile rape cases. It would definitely be much shorter than in the US, which was my main point.

[–]Terminal-Psychosis 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or American sentences are ridiculously long.

In any case, this psychopath deserved way more.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Though the sentence in this case was pretty short, Canadian sentences are only short when compared to American sentences for similar crimes. I'm happy our country doesn't dole out unnecessarily long sentences for crimes and the focus of our justice system is more rehabilitation than punishment. I do still think this chick got a pass though and should've gotten a longer sentence.

This leaves me with more questions than answers.

The crazy thing is that I'm pretty sure these ladies saw this on the TV show "Orange is the New Black" and imitated it. In the show, a character is sexually assaulted and as revenge, she and another character set out to knock out the abuser and put a mop handle in his anus.

[–]javi404 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fucking hell, then the co-accused joined in the beating of the other teen. Sounds like they are all fucking crazy. Put them all away regardless of who beat who except mr W.

These kinds if people need some sort of extreme rehabilitation like 10 years in boot camp

She was 15, and this article doesn't really say that much about how big a role she played in any of this. She didn't take part in the sexual assault of one of the guys, all that it says is that she hit one guy on the head twice with a frying pan. Pretty bad, but she could have easily truly been persuaded into it by the group she was with. To me, there isn't enough to say that 9 months is insufficient.

[–]KageStar 26 points27 points28 points 11 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link

She started the witch hunt and joined in on the beating. That's complicit in it, even if she stopped hitting them at that point she's still an accessory.

[+]modernbenoni -14 points-13 points-12 points 11 years ago (34 children) | Copy Link

We don't know how the witch hunt started. She could have mentioned it to a friend and the friend ran with it. Yes she was complicit in it, and yes she was an accessory, but would you really expect more than 9 months for that for a minor with no priors?

[–]ryuut8 points 11 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Im interested in what happened to the mob

[–]modernbenoni -5 points-4 points-3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same. Without knowing what happened to them you can't really call "pussy pass" on this.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

would you really expect more than 9 months for that for a minor with no priors?

Yes. The vicious nature of these attacks along with the premeditation of them shows a marked lack of concern for punishment or social cohesion. By being party to this crime, no matter the role she played, means she could have stopped it or quietly called for help, but she didnt. 9 Months is a travesty for kidnapping, assault, and forcible sodomy on any human being.

[+]modernbenoni -12 points-11 points-10 points 11 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

Okay, but there is no kidnapping in this case, and she didn't forcibly sodomise anybody.

Do you think that she should receive the same punishment as the guy who actually digitally sodomised him, just because she was party to the crime?

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (28 children) | Copy Link

If youre going to stand around in a room of people you gathered and watch as a person is forcibly penetrated by a broom handle youre as guilty and evil as the person holding the broom. Laws exist to deal with groups of conspiritors committing a crime and I think those laws should apply here. No single one of them thought it up and all of them should pay the price for their complicity.

A text message to a third party to call Emergency services to your location on your behalf wouldnt take 30 seconds or be obvious to anyone there.

[+]modernbenoni -8 points-7 points-6 points 11 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

You don't know that she had any power to stop it. You're making all sorts of presumptions that you have no place making.

I'm not saying she's innocent of anything, just pointing out that you don't know that she's guilty.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Youre entirely right. I dont know if she's actually guilty. I dont know this whole scenario isn't some elaborate hoax by a group of encouragable pranksters and the RCMP. But you're taking a long trip around the bend to claim she was innocent after she's been convicted.

Youre also presuming a first world teenage girl, in a room full of teenagers, couldn't get hold of a cell phone for 30 seconds. Who's really making the more ridiculous assumptions?

[–]modernbenoni -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

I mean you don't know that she is guilty of the things you are saying she is. I am not proposing that she is without fault.

If she was afraid of the people she was with then she probably would not text for help. There's so many valid reasons for her not to, and you are just making huge assumptions.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

I mean you don't know that she is guilty of the things you are saying she is.

So what? I've already admitted I'm neither prescient or present during the crime. That has what to do with my opinions of the report? We have two assault victims here and she seems to be at the center of it. If youre going to be calling my knowledge onto question i demand you provide me with some counter evidence to the proferred report.

I am not proposing that she is without fault.

Then she is culpable in the same way everyone who might have participated in this attack.

If she was afraid of the people she was with then she probably would not text for help. There's so many valid reasons for her not to, and you are just making huge assumptions.

Its a huge assumption to think she had access to a cell phone? Why would she be scared of the people she called over to her house? If she was so scared of these people then why were they brought into her house to discuss her possible rape? Youre the one making some huge assumptions about her state of mind.

[–]KageStar 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes she engaged in beating both of the guys. She also hit one on the head twice with a frying pan. That can even be argued as aggravated assault.
