I wonder how many are actually started by a male or were a male is responsible? Because if that's the figure reported, I'd bet it's higher because most cops are whiteknights and tend to side with women, even when it's the make who called.

There are reports that show more than 50% of Domestic Violence is initiated by women.

But then the whiteknight cops show up, "How dare you breathe on me lady even though she tried to stab you".

Forgive the generalization, but I wonder if this is because a lot of guys just won't hit a woman in retaliation?

Just as I would for a perceivably lesser threat of a man, I'd take a hit or two from a woman while trying to defuse the situation. But, you keep that shit up and "you're goin' to jail".

Whether or not a guy hits back when he's hit by a woman, he's still a victim. Just because you fight back against an attacker and win, which I guess would make you the "victor", in the domestic violence sense your'e still a victim of having been attacked.

Oh snap!

Haha I've been a male victim of domestic violence. My ex with really bad bipolar issues once found my new address, showed up, begged me to talk while drinking whiskey straight from the bottle. I told her I was gonna call her mom to come get her, she attacked me. I tried to hold her down for about forty minutes until my roommates got back. She was absolutely relentless. She would get an arm free and just start ripping up my face with her nails, punching me, etc.

When my fantastic roommates came home, they assumed that I was beating the hell out of her and pulled me off. She grabbed my shotgun, couldn't figure out how to load it, and just hit me with it.. a lot. My roommate finally was able to call her mom, but the neighbor had already called up the cops. They came (actually a female cop) right as she was smashing my windshield with a grill cover in the parking lot. I told the cops that I didn't want to press any charges when they asked, but they put her in cuffs anyway and said that the state was.

Through the scuffle, almost my home got destroyed, I lost a lot of stuff, and I looked a lot like ol' dude up there in the picture. Meanwhile, the only marks she had on her body were on her hands. Worst part, I had to go to domestic violence court and sit on the victim side of the courtroom with a lot of battered women giving me death stares. The court put up pictures they took of me that night on a big screen for everyone to see. Fun stuff. Funny story now cause, hey, I survived. She got a whole lot of state mandated counseling and whatnot because I just didn't speak in court and kept telling them I already refused to press charges. Pussy pass: Denied.

[–]Methaxetamine 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

But you didn't press charges. Isn't that her pass?

[–]Curses_at_bots 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Nah. I've never pressed charges against anybody. I'm kind of a "we don't talk to police" kind of guy. Just the way I was brought up.

Plus I take NOTHING seriously. This was brought to my attention recently. Right after it was all over I was laughing about it, and my roommates and neighbors were looking at me like I was insane.

You cucked yourself. I don't understand how you would let that psycho bitch get off so easily.

[–]Curses_at_bots 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She had a simple assault on her record, spent the night in jail, and her family paid way out the ass for all the required counseling and rehab. Not easy. I've been through the court system again and again. I wouldn't wish that on some of my worst enemies. Plus, I'm a man. Not about to press charges on a female for hitting me. That's just embarrassing.

That's literally a pussy pass. But it's your choice!

[–]Curses_at_bots 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, but I have a soft spot for them. Plus I'm still glad the state pressed charges. Seeing a lady cop walk in and put the cuffs on her after I told them not to was enough satisfaction. She yelled, "Whaaaaaat? Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!!??" haha no bitch. They're not.

[–]ghastlyactions 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually most victims of domestic violence are men. Women suffer more harm because men are generally stronger, but women commit more domestic violence than men. On mobile now, have sourced this fact several times before.

[–]ashante343[S] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Australian Bureau of Statistics figures from 2013 outline that for the prior 12 months one in three victims of current intimate partner violence were male. In January, NSW Police reported that last year one in every five family violence incidents they responded to involving intimate partners were for male victims. The perpetrators in these incidents were both male and female.

[–]JanLul 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Aren't children possible victims of 'Domestic Violence' as well?

[–]trismagestus 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think that comes under child abuse.

Domestic violence was redubbed 'intimate partner violence' to make it clearer who people are talking about.

[–]JanLul 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Interesting. This may only apply within your region though.

[–]trismagestus 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. Reddit is a global community, after all.

I think this figure is way too low. Most men are too embarrassed to vlaim they have been abused, while wimen are emarrasses to say that they wern't abused.
