Soldiers in the US definitely are not taught or expected to "blindly obey". The Uniform Code of Military Justice is pretty clear about who the liability falls on if a soldier obeys an unlawful order.

Frankly anyone dumb enough to invade a foreign country deserves shot dead. I would shoot at invaders and I assume the military would side against the people, and with the invaders.

Women in the military are a) totally voluntarily there (b) do have a way out (pregnancy) and (c) are usually kept out of harm's way.
