As someone who had a physically violent ex gf, this bugs the hell out of me. Everyone would say, "Oh she's just drunk."

Then one time when I took her for a weekend getaway, she was arrested for assaulting me. Tried to tell the cops I had been hitting her and scratched up her chest. Cops saw right through it and took her away. They asked me if I touched her. I said, "I pushed the crazy bitch off me. I'm not just going to stand there and get hit." They took her to jail and I stayed alone in the suite for the weekend.
