One of my friends is a statistic to this and now he can't get a damn job. When she did feel guilty and told the truth, they let him out of prison but left his record the way it was. She had nothing. Nothing infuriates me more than to know she has fucked his life up, demanded child support, and since he is unable to get a job with that record to pay she keeps his daughter from seeing him.

My friend works for the Ontario Provincial Police just typing up police reports, and he routinely says that most domestic violence cases he sees were initiated by women - and the women are usually never arrested or charged whereas in the exact same case the man would be going to jail. He regularly tells me about new cases, like the one I recall where police had been out to a home a half dozen times where the man had called the cops on his abusive wife. Every time police showed up she was never arrested or charged despite clear evidence.

I don't doubt this for a moment. I called the police on my ex-wife once, when she became violent with me at a McDonald's when I returned our son to her after my brief court-ordered time with him. The police came to my house to take a report, I assumed, so things could at least be documented. It didn't matter I still had bloody scratches on my arm from her attack, I was arrested anyway, because "...prosecutor says someone's gotta go to jail," with my protests being met with "tell it to the judge." There was no report made of my scratches, or anything else. But, our local prosecutor feels someone should be arrested in DV cases, in order to prevent more problems, and it's always the male. So, apparently just to protect me, I was put in jail for the night, and given the pain in the ass and future expense of a lawyer, court fees, etc.
