Poor boys are falling behind poor girls, and it's deeply troubling

Are girls 'tougher' than boys or are they advantaged by the way they are treated? There have been decades of outright neglect of the issues facing men and boys, at the same time as issues facing women and girls are constantly highlighted.

Just my 2 cents. Part of the reason girls from poor families are more likely to succeed are scholarships. Coming from a very poor family myself, I relied very heavily on scholarships and wouldn't have been able to get an education otherwise. But I had a harder time getting them than the girls in my classes. Why is it still perfectly acceptable to fund woman only scholarships but not male only scholarships when women are graduating and attending collage at higher rates?
