The arguments see gender equality as a one directional thing. That is, raising women up. That's a biased point of view. You can't measure gender equality by measuring women's suffering, you also have to measure men's suffering.

Female oppression is prevalent at varying intensities at a disturbingly high rate in many non-westernised countries. Therefore at a global scale, gender inequality is very real.

Men's suffering completely ignored. Men are by far the greatest victims of violence, war, and suicide globally.

Even in countries where economic status and education opportunity is relatively equivalent between genders, social objectification and physical safety unequally impact females more than males. Stats say that two Australian women die every week as a result of domestic violence. Also, almost every woman will experience some form of sexual assault in her lifetime.

Once again, no attempt to look at male suffering, just the assumption that things are worse for women, in every area. Regarding physical safety, men are more likely to be murdered, commit suicide, and die on the job. Boys have their genitals cut at much higher rates than girls. Men are more likely to be arrested, and will serve longer jail time for the same crimes.

Women are significantly under-represented in positions of power, and this impacts the attention given to, and the outcomes of, decisions being made that specifically effect women. How women deal with their own biological functions is in many instances still a political determination rather than an individual’s choice (i.e. abortion laws and taxes on sanitary products).

Women make up 51-52% of the voting population. In a democracy, MPs represent their constituents, not the people who have the same identity as them. Women have government departments and MP looking after their interests.

Whether a men becomes a parent or not is largely determined by women. My have no reproductive rights and can be forced into supporting a child they didn't want and in some cases they did everything they could to prevent becoming a parent.

You can't measure gender equality by only measuring women's hardships.

Here's a really good summary of men's issues . You can see that men have just as many issues as women, and to say that women have it worse is disingenuous.

Well, of course she will, under feminist definitions. The feminist definition of sexual assault is now so broad, that every scenario involving a male and female can be construed as a form of sexual assault.

You need to quote a source on this - most stats have males as overwhelmingly the victims of violence. Western women are the safest creatures to ever live on the planet.

You would need to quote the stats here as well - and you might want to consider that domestic violence with men as the victim is considered to essentially not exist, despite studies showing 70% of non-reciprocal violence is committed by women. As well, women often act through proxies, so men beaten up by their wife's new boyfriend doesn't make the classification of 'domestic violence' - essentially, it's only half the story, if it's true at all and the other half has been so dismissed, under-studied and hand-waved away that it can't be grasped.

This is a function of the sacrifices that must be made to get to those positions and that society encourages men to sacrifice but not women. As well, you might want to look at who primarily benefits from those political decisions. In most cases, those decisions are decided in the favour of women.

There's a lot wrong here. For one, the gender pay gap can be pretty easily shown to be caused entirely by factors having nothing to do with discrimination against women. Men are more likely to be victims of violence, dramatically. Women are a majority of the voters and thus are the ones responsible for electing men into high office. It's largely because men treat women better than other men.
