Clever cartoon on what can happen when a man DOES talk about his feelings.

Man is found NOT guilty of rape, but the cops keep telling his prospective employers that he "might" have done it anyway. Another reason why false allegations are so evil.

Are men stereotyped?

I'd say we are subject to all manner of stereotypes, in particular from women, and in extra- extra- particular, from feminists.

If men and women are both stereotyped, then is Penny Wong's complaint still valid? Possibly. She comes across as shrill and silly, as do most of the well-off, indulged, western public women figures of today who complain about everything while living caviar lives. But lets suppose her complaint is valid nonetheless. If she is being stereotyped, doesn't she notice then that isn't a womens' issue if men are being stereotyped too? Why doesn't she acknowledge what men deal with, as well? Why does she act in such a typical way, and exclude men from the conversation, and pit men against women? Is it that she has been rewarded her entire life for playing the gender victim card?

Do people like this believe that male politicians are never subjected to harsh criticism in free societies?

George Bush and Barack Obama are 2 of the most frequently-attacked people I have ever seen. An absence of criticism is not expected in the case of male politicians, why should that be the case for female politicians?

Says the butch, short haired, Lesbian

Wanna stop people stereotyping you? THEN STOP ACTING LIKE ONE!

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Having short hair is literally the only thing that fits that stereotype.

It's politics, she has to wear a suit.

[–]ZimbaZumba 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She wears a suit without a tie. In the Senate a man is obliged to wear a tie.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Oh god a tie! How could I have forgotten a tie? It's literally like a chokehold necklace around my neck crushing me everyday.

Who gives a fuck? If your tie bothers you, learn to tie it properly.

[–]ZimbaZumba 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Looks like the point of my post passed you bye.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah I get your point, she's not held to the exact same dress standards as men.

My point is, when the difference is something as irrelevant as a tie, who gives a fuck?

[–]ZimbaZumba 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are arguing as if the wearing of the tie had no context. There is clearly enormous context and symbolism here.

Amazing absurdity coming from a woman who dresses like a man and gets away with it. She also whines about being called shrill and hysterical. Keep in mind this is Australian politics -- if all you've been called is shrill and hysterical you've had a pretty good day!

[–]ZimbaZumba 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wears a suit but no tie, a male Senator ca not do that in the chamber.

Amazing absurdity coming from a woman who dresses like a man and gets away with it.

Just checked the photo. It's a woman's shirt. The buttons go from right to left.

Also, what relevance does the way she dresses have on the point she is making?

[–]192873982 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The relevance is that she is not stereotyped for her clothes at all, while any male politician wearing womens clothes would have been stereotyped by society.

[–]ThePigmanAgain[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's worse than being stereotyped, if a male MP turned up in parliament wearing a dress and long hair his career would almost certainly be over.

[+]tiqr -9 points-8 points-7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My point is that she's not dressed as a man in the first place, and how she dresses is irrelevant. This isn't about cross-dressing.

[–]ThePigmanAgain[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bitch, please.

[+]tiqr -8 points-7 points-6 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Politician bemoans the use of diminutive language directed at female politicians like "shrill and hysterical" or “throwing a tantrum”. OP describes her as "whining".

Does this not prove her point?

[–]Lethn 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe if they didn't act shrill and hysterical all the fucking time people wouldn't feel the need to point it out.

[+]tiqr -8 points-7 points-6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, aren't "they" just like that.

[–]ThePigmanAgain[S] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is Australian politics. Such insults, and worse, are hurled at men every fucking day and this turd of a woman knows it.

[+]tiqr -9 points-8 points-7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So she's a turd too, now? At least that's not a gendered insult.

[–]ThePigmanAgain[S] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's a feminist, and a politician. That's pretty much a guarantee of turdiness.

[–]redditorriot 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very old trick up there with the Sarkessian defence - 'She was right, just look at the response!'
