Like many other books of popular scholarship, Manning Up also tends to feel like an extended sales pitch for its own neologisms. "Preadulthood", "the New Girl Order" and "the child-man", in this case, are the phrases that Hymowitz would like to see catch on. They won't, I don't think. But here is a neologism of my own: "slacademic". As is the rule with these terms, it should be self-explanatory.

There are many oil-rig workers, fishermen, construction workers, sewage workers, handful workers, miners, raw material fabricators working in furnace factories, all who do not have the luxuries for boyish indulgence, due to time and finances. Marry them. Agh, see the problem there?

Men who have luxury of resources, which women like the writer want, don't want to be mocked and shamed by women they are with just because their ladies think men aren't doing "enough". Women can write articles and books to shame them all they want, it won't bother them. Appreciation and respect are not earned in returned for efforts. Opting out of endless selfless sacrifice in exchange of freedom not to be called assholes/losers, by doing whatever the heck men want, seems too good a deal not to take.

Explain that to the nation of predominantly male recent STEM degree graduates who actually took to college like adults, while the majority of non-STEM graduates, who are the ones drowning in debt as a result of poor decision making, are female. Yes, tell them about this "rise of women" and "decline of men"

newsflash ladies: it has more to do with technology than it has to do with women.

now you see and experience the views and opinions of people who you would previously have no association with, couple this with hobbies that simply didnt exist in the past such as online gaming etc. there is no surprise that more people spend more time in a state of "play"
