The idea that rape is something that happens when certain steps are not followed, or because of certain criteria not being fulfilled, means that the improvised, imperfect and often quite strange moments which populate young people’s love lives are being recast through the prism of sexual violence. This is the rise of the academic rape: rape which happens not because of something someone did, but because of what they did not do.

...look at the bright side of this. Having clear and unequivocal consent from women will make sex far more fun than it is at the moment. Women should be told what expressions will be considered to give full consent and will be required to say them before and during intercourse so that consent is explicit at all times. These are the consent sentences that I would suggest:

Fuck me!

Give it to me hard!

You’re going to treat me like a whore and I’m going to like it!

Do it, do it!

Men will need to record the whole thing in case it goes to trial and listening to the recordings will give them solace in their moments of solitude.
