It's like claiming you're a post-infant at 35.

The difference being that "postpartum" is a period that has specific physical and psychological risks, a result of pregnancy, and that for caregivers these risks impact the care their child receives.

Sounds like they don't.

What makes you say that? Are you suggesting that pregnant and postpartum men can't apply?

Women who are legal guardians but not postpartum are not eligible under the postpartum eligibility any more or less than men are. Not all women who parent were pregnant.

Just one conversation about rights being denied to males that doesn't end in accusations of transphobia . . .

Psst, I meant the WIC benefits wording was transphobic and it's good for MRAs to take a stand against that on behalf of transgender men. Sounds like maybe that's too tiring for you though, sorry for mentioning disenfranchised men.

So like 0.001% of men?

Are you demanding numerical equality of the genders for pregnancy...? I don't think that's within WIC's powers.

Another example of anti-male discrimination with WIC.

I was later given WIC aid (women, infants, and children) to help buy my daughter's formula. Things were going well until I went to a local grocery store to pick up some. I got to the checkout line, and when I handed the male cashier my WIC card he asked me where I got the card. He stated that such cards are not issued to men and said, "I know this isn't yours." My first reaction was to yank him across the counter, but I didn't. Biting my tongue and reaching for my WIC ID, I was saved further argument by the manager stepping forward and checking me out rapidly. I could give you more examples of the discrimination that I have had to put up with, but it would take pages to do so.

Apart from the direct discrimination, isn't it apparent that the sexist cashier would not apply for WIC or tell a male friend to do so if they were eligible? Now this is someone who's job it is to receive these WIC cards as payment, and apparently he's never seen one from a man before despite one quarter of single parent families being headed by men these days?

You don't think there's a problem there?

The one is caused by the other. When you say WIC is gender neutral in theory you are saying the same as could be said about Jim Crow laws racially. Nevertheless those laws were found unconstitutional weren't they? Because they had the intent and effect of creating racial discrimination. I bet if you went back to the 80s when the WIC law was being debated in Congress you would find plenty of evidence from the record that Congress talked only about helping single mothers and not single fathers. And we can see that the admins don't care to find pout how much anti-male prejudice is in the system even as they record many other details of the families involved to prevent abuses and correct them. Clearly there is anti-male sentiment that is blocking single fathers from getting this aid.

None of this is surprising when we consider that feminism, the anti-male hate movement is the single party state on gender in the US and uses its institutional power to discriminate against men. And too we know of other laws where the administration's feminist offices interpret the law as sexist even as the text is supposed to be gender neutral. In fact that is entirely normal.

If in fact the WIC program was not sexist it would be working to make sure that single fathers were not discouraged from using it's services, and I've seen no evidence of that. The only places you will see featuring men is an entry on their FAQ. While that's better than nothing it also means they are aware that this question is "frequent" and that the sentiment that men cannot apply is therefore a common one.

I'm going to guess you're person down voting me by the way.

Here's an example:

So this is someone asking about WIC or talking about it or someone else and saying they think single fathers with kids are excluded. Now even if that is wrong that's a widely held belief because of the name of the program being deliberately sexist. If a single father just assumes that he cannot apply or if he's put off by all the stuff on every WIC site going on about women this, women that all the time, or perhaps he talks to some sexist woman administrator, then he's effectively denied those benefits regardless of what the law technically says.

This is or should be obvious but when the WIC admins do an audit like this one:

They refuse to to gather data on the sex of the guardian of the children. They ask about income, race, ethnicity, immigration status and so on because they care about those things, but they don't give a shit if male parents are being excluded, which they probably are. If they asked and found out then they'd have to do something, and they don't want to.
