The racial slur really doesn't change anything in my opinion. Had she only called him a racial slur and he hit her then I would completely side against him unless the racial slur also included some verbal threat, and even then I would have trouble siding with him. It is the physical threat and the actual punch she threw that makes her the aggressor and justifies the one punch he threw at her.
