A few weeks back my 7yo son, while being a goofball at school, touches a girl between the legs. The girl freaks out, and the school escalates everything to 11. The police are called as the incident is automatically flagged as a sexual assault since the genitals are involved. Children's Aid is called. My son is given a one day suspension.

Today, my son gets in a little spat with a different girl. Crayons are thrown in class. In the hallway, she grabs him, chokes him, and knees him in the groin. It was enough to send my son to the ground in tears. My wife gets called to come take our son home for fighting in school. My wife asks if the police and CAS have been called because of the school's policy on sexual assault (any contact with the genitals - as told to us by the principal a few weeks ago).

The principal says NO, because the attack wasn't sexual in nature. NEITHER WAS WHAT OUR SON DID A FEW WEEKS AGO! My wife ripped into the principal in the office and forced his hand. The principal called the police. Then my wife asks about the automatic one-day suspension. The principal is all wishy-washy and says he has to talk to the other parents first. My wife communicates this to me.

I call the school and rip into the principal for his double standard. He had no problem calling the police and suspending my son in a heartbeat, but a girl knees my son in the groin and he has to talk to the other parents first?

Thank god the school year is over this week!
