In short, The Hunting Ground relies on false statistics and twisted accusations in order to convince its audience of a preferred narrative that rape is around every corner of college campuses. This wouldn't be necessary if the problem was as real and as rampant as they claim.

This. If campus rape was as widespread as feminists and SJWs try to paint it being, virtually every "gotcha" example of it they find wouldn't be so easily proven false or distorted. There would be hundreds if not thousands of examples to point to that clearly and obviously point to a rape epidemic on college campuses if such an epidemic actually existed.

but those hundreds or thousands of other accounts never report their assaults. see how that works?

And they don't report their assaults because they're afraid of being stigmatized as a false rape accuser. WE NEED TO LOWER THE BURDEN OF PROOF FOR RAPE CONVICTIONS!

Yes if rape was as common as false accusations then they wouldn't keep getting struck out on cases they pick and claim to have thoroughly vetted. Feminists are a joke. But even if they did no checking whatsoever just by pure luck they'd get better than zero for four, if that is rape was as common as false accusations.

Why did he receive such a minor charge? Because the evidence wasn't there

And when there's no evidence of guilt for an accused man, people feel it's best to just convict them of some arbitrary lesser crime anyway.

In fact the journalist claims that a couple of the jurors she interviewed said that they were split 11 to 1 in favor of saying the man was completely innocent but then couldn't get the twelfth juror to change their mind so in the end they (bizarrely if true) decided what the fuck let's compromise and make him guilty of something we think he's completely innocent of just to satisfy the one juror.

Literally this is punishment even if found innocent. Add that to all the raft of punishments the kid had already taken and had ruining his life before he even came to any trial. the libel, the lost time at school, the loss of reputation and the expense.

yes it's very bizarre. prosecutors feel like rape is such a serious problem that they have to convict him of "something" in order to get justice. isn't that contrary to how the legal system should work? so they convict him of "non-sexual touching," which let's be honest, if that was the accusation in the first place the police would never have charged (some guy brushed my arm on the subway! eek!)

Its truly sickening.

Both Winston cases are a farce. The Hunting ground claimed Erika Kinsman was drugged despite multiple Tox screens hours after the incident. They fail to mention the accuser change stories more than five times. They fail to mention even her best friends give her 0 credibility about the incident. It's a hack job.

guess what, if you do a bunch of coke and get hammered you may consent to doing things you never would do when you're stone sober. that doesn't mean you get to accuse the guy of rape in the morning.

and the condom she submitted as evidence that this guy had raped her friend....had Kinsman's blood in it, and some other guy's DNA. so Kinsman is all "here is some evidence of me having consensual sex with a different guy, this is proof this guy raped my friend." very credible witness.

The lack of specifics in the inquiry, coupled with the lack of any appropriate request for comment from the other side, sound very reminiscent of the problems that brought down Rolling Stone's gang-rape article.

What article did Rolling Stone publish on gang rape?

EDIT: A Rape On Campus was about a woman lying to a reporter, not about gang rape.

A Rape on Campus:

"A Rape on Campus" is an article by Sabrina Erdely published in the December 2014 issue of Rolling Stone, which has since been debunked and retracted by the publisher. The article claimed that several members of a fraternity viciously raped a woman, identified only as Jackie, as part of an initiation rite during a chapter house party. After other journalists investigated the article's claims and found significant discrepancies, Rolling Stone issued multiple apologies for the story. The story was included in a Columbia Journalism Review feature, "The Worst Journalism of 2014", where it was described as winning "this year’s media-fail sweepstakes." The Poynter Institute named it as the "Error of the Year" in journalism.

A Rape On Campus was about a woman lying to a reporter, not about gang rape.

Correction: The "A Rape on Campus" article put forth an account of gang rape that was called out by later articles and internet postings that were about a woman lying to a reporter.
