This is how men get jobs in journalism - one of the requirements in papers like The Independent is that they have a history of joining feminist groups and so on.

Guys like this have basically made a Machiavellian choice of allying themselves to feminism so they can get work in progressive newspapers. They have probably also made a more fundamental choice of allying themselves with feminists, because they think they're going to win the long war, and as historical allies will be rewarded for their support.

With men like this, it isn't a question of guilt or self-hate - they are like everyone else, carefully picking whose side their on and judging their prospects accordingly. If he ends up at the butt-end of a bogus rape charge or at the end of the knife of a #KillAllWhiteMen lunatic, I'm sure he'll reconsider his choices.
