i think both used to be named, then feminists convinced the courts/media that naming "victims" was damaging to their privacy, as they would purportedly receive death threats and the like, or have their name smeared.

no one cares about accused men, so no one cares if they're named.

People who are false accusers should have to register like sex offenders so the number of people they victimize can be limited; IMO if you falsely accuse someone of rape the standard of evidence in a case , any kind of case, where the sole basis of the case is the accusers testimony should be insanely high.

Well, due process is public and people charged with crimes are publicly named. This keeps the court system open and transparent. Which is something we want. I don't know about you, but I'm not comfortable with the idea of sex assault trials happening in the shadows without any public oversight.

Alleged victims' names are protected because there is a stigma around sexual assault thus a belief that people won't come forward to allege it if allegations would mean they would have to come forward publicly.

This sub is aware of the stigma against male sex assault victims particularly, so this works in men's favour too.

People here won't know and will make something up on the fly.

The reasoning is that if the accused name is put out, other people might come forward and that would make the case stronger.

If the accusers name is not put out, people will be more likely to come forward and make an accusation because they can make it and remain anonymous.
