He is part of the Good Man project. They want to redefine masculinity because they think it is toxic as it is. If you notice he will tell his son that he be anything he wants to be just not masculine.

Children should sometimes be told to "walk it off". There's merit to "man up" at times. And women and girls could be told it more. The solution to the difference isn't always "treat boys like girls" [ie; hover over them and make them act feminine and share their feelings, and talk, and cry all the time about everything, etc].

The solution is to look at everything, what make sense in a situation and determine if it's right or wrong and if it works for children and if it raises well rounded adults. Being coddled your entire life is only going to mean you'll be one of the people who actually do need those stupid "safe spaces" with coloring books, videos of puppies and other inane condescending bullshit. And that's not a good thing.

If a child is legitimately hurt, help them, give them support and love and address their needs. If they have a scratch and are acting like they just fell into a pit of fire then you need to tell your child to not overreact. They're fine, and have them go back on their way. Especially if that scratch isn't even one that draws blood.

These people have such a black and white view of the issue. Some things on each side work, in situations where appropriate. Neither is good as the end all be all solution to every problem. And the extremes of both are stupid. The genders and how we raise them both need to meet in the middle, because that's where common sense is.

edit; and as a gay man, I've never felt like I was "questioned" by other men in my masculinity. Not in the "men must be men" way anyway. The only thing that's happened with friends is that they tease each other. That's it. It's not personal, or bad. It's just some teasing, and it doesn't matter to me. Like... "you're such a faggot", after I swoon over some hot video game character. And then I go "I know~". And life goes on. I'll also say shit like, "you know you love me~" and they'll agree and then I'll say "gaaaaay". And life goes on.

It's not that serious. Thick enough skin that you can make fun of your friends and horse around is healthy. If you take every single comment as some kind of personal assault on who you are, then you're a stupid person.

Men totally attempt to police each other's masculinity, maybe as much as women police each other's feminity (watch women criticise other women on their fashion sense, etc or men criticise sports players).

It doesn't mean that men, nor women, for that matter necessarily have to listen to every blowhard telling us to conform to their ideas of a gender norm. I don't think the concept of "masculine" or "feminine" are useful outside of describing primary and secondary sexual characteristics because demonstrating gender linkage is a path fraught with shitty science.

Women are much more codified in their clothing then men. Men's clothing is largely unisex, and women can often get away with wearing suites the ultimate male garb. Women spend over nearlily 90,000 dollars in their lifetimes more then men on clothing over their lifetimes on average. I converted £94,442 and £34,497 to 139,692.94 and 51,029.51 US dollars and subtracted.

Women just spend a lot more time and money in trying to showcase to the public that yes they are indeed women

It's odd that the word atheist even exists. I don't play golf. Is there a word for non-golf players? Do non-golf players gather and stragtegize? Do non-skiers have a word and come together and talk about the fact that they don't skii?

For religious people their religion is lifestyle choice so they can't wrap their heads around atheists who simply say they don't believe in god. Women view 'malenes' the same way. For most women being a women is a lifestyle, its a large chunck of who they are. As a result religious people and women project these elaborate self important ideas onto people who's pov's are simply "not believeing in any god" and "not being interested in makeup/dreses".

Since men don't have any real sense of gender indentity society forces men to invent their own gender.

You can tell how hamfisted the male gender identity because it's all about accomplishing things. Your aren't a man until you do x,y, and z. Which is a contradiction because a women is just as capable of doing x,y, and z. That's why

Women know in there heart that they are women. Men have to go constantly prove that they are men. A real identity is not something that you have to prove. It's something that you are.

Men rightly respect strong capable men, they dont respect weak incapable little sunflowers.

I think this guy has confused overly compensating meat heads as "typical men" when actually typical men are emotionally aware and decent but they don't wallow in it.
