I think its important to note that while it's great an innocent man has been freed, it does not mean by default that the rape report was a lie or fabrication, police often catch the wrong guy but that's not a rape victims fault

Just saying, an accuser in the context of legal terminology is not the one primarily at fault here, it's the cps/ prosecution & police failing to do their job

A false conviction is different than a false allegation. Being raped, reporting it to the police, and then proceeding to misidentify the perpetrator is not something that should be punishable. If this were the case, then the eye witnesses in a false murder conviction should be punished if it is proven that the convict was indeed innocent.
