I was served with child support papers. The court-ordered amount is based on gross and is one that logistically isn't possible. It doesn't take into account college loan debt, rent, bills, expenses etc. I consulted a lawyer and he said the best option would be to convince the mother to work out an arrangement outside of the courts. He would have a paralegal then right up a contract agreeing to a set amount that I could afford and we'd both sign it.

Advice on how to approach convincing her to go this route?
