Why would anybody lie about such a thing? (of course people lie all the time, for all sorts of reasons).

In this case it seems to be for.... Attention?

Ahhh, more than three dozen calls identifying people matching descriptions of an assailant that doesn't exist.

Is it just me, or does the guy in that sketch look like he came straight out of an anime or something? I think it's the eyes - creepily large and just weird looking.

Isn't wonderful that even as an accused criminal she gets a puss-pass and doesn't get her name listed in the paper. You sure as hell know that an accused man would have his name broadcast.
