I don't think this was a slip up, but neither is it pandering. Men's Rights issues are simply not on his radar as issues that need to be addressed. Parental leave to help ease the transition from "couple" to "family" and help parents bond with their children is very important. That how this affects men didn't register on his radar doesn't mean it's pandering to women.

Had Warren Farell been successful in establishing a White house counsel on Men and boys He could have gotten the issue of paternity leave onto the Presidents radar. The issue isn't that the President is pandering or doesn't care about paternity leave. It is that there is a sexist gender ideologue gate keeping what makes it to the President so issues like paternity leave just don't show up on his radar.

He's pandering to the female vote, and he's trying to set up Hillary Clinton to win the next presidential bid. Remember, Hillary Clinton is a self-proclaimed feminist. Barack Obama is not only a Democrat, but he also comes from the Bill Clinton/Hillary Clinton group in politics. He wants to help motivate the female vote as much as he can for next election cycle.
