Very sad to hear this happen. Suicide is very hard to deal with and equally hard to prevent. I can relate a little bit because I was bullied and I wasn't blessed with good teeth (probably due to also being 2 months premature + genetics ftw) and you know what sometimes you can't afford cosmetic dentistry. I actually saw someone from my class post that people with yellow teeth should have better dental hygiene. I noticed no mention of any friends, so sad you would think there would at least be mention of one but gosh would that be a hard pain to take, knowing that your friend chose to end their life.

Yet again, a young nerdy male (read the full article, "James had little interest in athletics, instead he preferred reading, Pokemon, anime, Dr. Who and video games") is bullied to the point where he kills himself.

Our society's utter contempt for the suffering of gender-nonconforming men is horrendous.

And some people think that today, nerd culture is accepted and nerds aren't bullied any more...

Peyton was a redhead, freckled, glasses-wearing male with discoloured teeth (due to being born premature and being on oxygen). Being porn premature probably helped make him a little more frail than other kids. Physically, the deck was stacked against him, he was a walking target from day one.

This is fucking tragic.

But no, nerds are all privileged white males so their suffering doesn't matter... [rolls eyes]

The years of bullying culminated the day Peyton was bullied for his faith.

One boy allegedly told him Christianity was stupid and that he was 'dumb' for believing in God, Jacki told the Sun.

You know, I thought that the bit where Peyton got bullied with anti-gay slurs would've left an opportunity for his tragic death to be capitalized on by It Gets Better or similar campaigns (I support their work, but bullying is not just an issue faced by queer kids and its not just a product of homophobia). Now, I'm worried that the Christian Right will come in, hold up Peyton as a martyr and claim they are now the biggest victims in America.

Even though Peyton is from Texas - hardly a bastion of secularism - and the majority of the students in that school probably believe in Jehovah too! Oh, and the bullying Peyton endured only once (going by the article) crossed the line into "you suck because of your religion" whereas Peyton got nerd-bashed for years.

So when the fuck is society going to start caring about gender-nonconforming males?

Not until the Men's Human Rights Movement becomes an influential force.

And yet people are opposed to having webcams/microphones monitoring hallways and yards in the schools, with protected access online for parents. They're opposed to having volunteer parents watch onsite during recess and between classes.
