Attractive? No offence but the phrase "plain Jane" comes to mind. And white? She may be Arabic, or Persian.

In effect, this was a research project, and it had an implicit research question (“Do conventionally attractive white women get verbally harassed in New York?”)

I’ve taught “introduction to research methods” to undergraduate students for many years,

then i wonder why this is such a poorly written and weak article.

First, let’s list all the hypothesis compatible with the “data”, this video

really? ALL the hypothesis? I can think of about 5, but there must be like 10!

Hypothesis 1- Men of colour are disproportionately more likely to catcall, especially to a white, conventionally attractive female. Hypothesis 2- All men are equally likely to catcall but the makers of the video were biased, consciously or unconsciously, against black men (and edited out men of other races on purpose.)

Oh. Two Hypothesis. That's all you could come up with. Either cat calling is a Black thing, or this woman is a racist who edited to make it look like that.

And WE KNOW it cant be the first one, because that would be racist. THEREFORE it must be the second.

Lets not muddy the water with subtle things like the racial demographics in Harlem, the unemployment, mental illness or poverty rates.

Hypothesis 3- It’s a spurious correlation: there is some other reason that caused these two events to go together. A spurious correlation occurs when a third, unrelated variable, causes a change in other variables, which then seem like they are causally connected even though they are not.

well that sounds stupid, so it cant be that. Then it can only be Hypothesis 2. Throwing in that 3rd one made me even more convinced.

Further on the writer implies that because the film maker said “We got a fair amount of white guys, but for whatever reason, a lot of what they said was in passing, or off camera,” which is likely a lie, therefore she DID edit out white guys to make black people look bad.

But again, isn't there a third or fourth possibility? Maybe she lied because she was embarrassed that so few white guys cat called. Maybe white guys were more likely to wink or grin.

Who knows, but even if the video was 100% black cat callers, the things that were said really werent that bad. For 10 hours footage she got very little harassment.

Regular white guys don't do crude cat calls like that any way. People aren't seeing the forest for the trees. The problem is non-whites, and it's jews like the woman in the video agitating for more racial tensions and also laying the behavior of blacks and hispanics on the shoulders of white men.
