The article in question entitled Trolls and hiring practices: Women on fixing the games industry it's in it self a paradox. The article lists and quotes members of the GDC 2014 panel that have zero experience in video game industry, yet they are being regarded as educators.
Former White House gaming czar Constance Steinkuehler (zero video game industry experience) was frank about her hiring perspective: “The game is rigged and weighted against women. If you haven’t hit 40 or had kids, you will find it. So, post-White House, post-tenure, I’ve become an asshole. Now, hell yeah, when I see two equal candidates with the same credentials and same chops, I will hire the girl.”
There's no such thing as "equal candidates with the same credentials and same chops", so Constance is to be trusted when it comes to selecting and employing a new person, just let that sink in. She is an educator.
Notice the language "rigged and weighted against women" as if there's some sort of conspiracy at play working tirelessly to keep the women away, therefore it's only fair to give women an advantage. And of course she doesn't have to go in detail about such a discriminatory comment, because that's all there is with feminism, just empty words designed to infuriate and convince 50% of the population that they are facing opposing barricades.
All is just an effort to eliminate the validation through merit and replace it with validation through numbers. Thus creating the perception that women have to go through considerable effort to get where the men get without any effort, this is very false, anyone who achieved something they long aspired to, reached that point through shear effort, passion and risk. I feel I'm getting stupid by even having to point out such a basic understanding of work-reward concept.
Most of the article contains negative thoughts about males in general and white males in particular, yet at no point the author (nor other articles for that matter) is bothered by statements like the one above.
Panelist Colleen Macklin (zero video game industry experience) brings up a video recorded from the hallways of the conference with the intent of pointing out the demographics attending the event. Evidently the privileged white males took over the conference... again. And they are real nasties this year too.
Two of my game-industry peers told me they were aggressively spoken to and groped at this year’s GDC by total strangers. No matter how much work, effort, genius, and creativity they put into their work, they still left GDC having to question whether they attended as game designers or as objects at the mercy of the conference’s men."
These are serious accusations and one would think that police might be involved, but the convention was real quiet. Herself being white and considering her taste in looks, from a distance she might even be mistaken for a man But than again, feminists can't be expected to have a coherent thought. It's all understandable after all, as the gaming industry is on a constant ascension offering good working environment, good pay, sometimes great rewards. The only problem is that is "dominated" by the misogynistic white males that need to be completely eradicated to make way for women who are great and do a better job while wearing high heels.
