Deadbeat parents, they say, leave children in crisis as custodial parents struggle to pay the bills.

Because sending men and women to jail when they cannot pay child support is a brilliant idea. Remove their ability to work, while at the same time wasting tax payer money to keep them locked up is a double whammy on the stupidity of the system.

So if you can't pay child support, the courts will drag your family and friends through the system to pay on your behalf too. Oh man, thank fuck I don't live in America. In Australia, if you work, you pay it. If you don't, you aren't chased unless it's on purpose. If you are legitimately unemployed for whatever reason (Loss of job, injury, etc), CSA won't come after you when you have nothing in your pockets. It seems like if you lose your job, you're still expected to pay the same amount as if you were and you even see your unemployment benefits go to the ex partner. What the FUCK is up with that?!?

Yes, and the system is funded mostly by the US Health and Human Services under the Title IV-D program, which is why the members of reddit men's rights have petitioned and continue to petition HHS Inspector General Daniel Levinson to investigate evidence of crime, and work to end the appearance of corruption and negligence, through our action opportunities.

The HHS is rife with Veteran's Administration style funny numbers that appear to endanger children, parents, and domestic violence victims in apparent violation of the GAGAS standards mandated by the Single Audit Act and the Data Quality Act. The HHS Office of Inspector General uses "self reporting" to audit Title IV-D (child support and parenting time) and Title IV-E (foster care services). Those self reporting mechanisms are similarly rife with "funny numbers", including citizen grievances which are destroyed, misplaced, ignored, or never filed due to bureaucratic intransigence and retaliation against citizens.

In Michigan, major news outlets reported that at least two children were improperly removed from their parents care by so called "orders" which appear to have been created by social workers wielding rubber stamps. In Kentucky, major news outlets reported that children were found with foster parents with criminal records. In Connecticut, a very rare HHS Inspector's General report found that federal laws requiring background checks were ignored.

Children and parents may suffer abuse and die as a result of the corruption maintained via these funny numbers, including one family where children have been endangered after being kidnapped by a drug addicted mother, and their father who can't get the authorities to protect his parental rights due to sexism, Stevie, a 4 year old California girl taken from her fit father and placed in a dangerous foster care situation because a CPS worker falsely claimed her dad failed a drug test, Michigan children may have been denied services because HHS tax dollars appear to be funneled into illegal lobbying, a 14 year old boy starved after reports to CPS were ignored, a young woman who suffered her mother's meth addiction fueled abuses due to systematic sexism against her father, and a New Jersey dad trying to support his children while his state HHS funded child support agency blatantly ignores his children's rights to child support enforcement from their deadbeat mom.

These are from the action opportunities submitted to, and apparently ignored by, the HHS-OIG by the reddit men's rights community, I urge the HHS-OIG to exercise its governing authority to protect children and parents, and to avoid the appearance of corruption or negligence.

As part of its mission to care for children, vulnerable adults, and all Americans, the HHS-OIG can also demonstrate kindness and integrity by providing truthful information about these ongoing issues of corruption to the President, to the White House staff, to Congress, and to the public where required or appropriate.

Until effective action is taken to understand the truth, and to fix these problems, those children, parents, and domestic violence victims who survive must hope for justice, and persevere.

"In Bergen County, men who aren't able to convince a judge they have done their best to pay what they owe are ordered to spend nights and weekends in the special wing of the jail. They are strip-searched, subjected to random urine tests and sent out each weekday morning to work - or look for work - to pay their debt and earn their release. Women are sent home in ankle bracelets, escaping jail only because there is no similar wing for them. "

NJ Father here, I know several of the men in this article. OF the ones I know (Jorge Reynaldo and Ariel Schochet) neither of them has stated that they do not want to support their children. In fact, it is the opposite. The system through multiple enforcement actions (i.e. Jailing and suspension of drivers license) makes it almost impossible for these guys to hold a steady job. They never know when they will be picked up on a warrant and be several days in jail before they get to see a judge. So guys who are trying to get reestablished in new jobs are never given the opportunity because they are being arrested and incarcerated. It has happened to me twice as I was driving on suspended license to visit clients. Luckily I have not been jailed for more than four days at a time and I still have my job. Under the conditions these men are living I would not be able to keep it though. The system is broken and the only ones who benefit are the Judges, Lawyers and courthouse staff. We need to change the laws ASAP.

You see, I am one of those rare fathers that have full custody. I raised my son on my own since he was a toddler. I am also one of those rare fathers who actually GET PAID the child support. I won this only because she couldn't be bothered to show up to the hearings. She never paid a dime for over 17 years. She refused to work in order to avoid paying. I would provide Family Court with her name, address, where she was working under the table, and everything else they needed to serve her. But they never would."

"NJ does this Christmas roundup of "deadbeat dads" every single Christmas. Some on guys owing as little as two or three missed payments. My ex however, who owed over $25k in arrears was NEVER picked up in the sweeps. Never. Not once. Even when I called them right before the sweeps to make sure they had all her current info."
