I'm just going to assume those men take it more seriously than most women do. Who knows why, but women just aren't as competitive

Although do wonder if there is any legitimate sexism in such spaces. People will be all like, "Oh, the reason you don't see pro gamer girls if because gamers harrass women." Even tho at any events for these things, I'm sure that wouldn't be tolerated. Or the other thing is that in the cases of anime conventions and stuff, people say women don't show up because the places are stinky as it's a bunch of men who don't shower. But again, it's not that such a thing would apply to chess necessary.

The main argued advantage men have other women is physical strength so for what's not an athletic competition it doesn't seem like it should matter to any extreme degree compared to other comparisons people make about how the best woman tennis player is worse than the hundredth best man who plays the sport and honestly 20 doesn't seem like too big of a gap
