I'm all for celebrating athletes that medal in the Olympics, but when you start getting so far ahead of yourself like claiming that the women's basketball team makes all the men's basketball, football, and baseball team look like amateurs, that's when I'm convinced you're not someone to take seriously. Besides, the men's Olympic basketball team medalled in the last nineteen Olympics and got gold in sixteen of them.

This reminds me of a story I read online (which I wish I could find) about a girls' high school basketball team that was winning championships and breaking records whereas the school's boys' basketball team were losing most of their games. Someone at that school had the brilliant idea of having the girls' and boys' team play a match against each other, hoping that the girls would kick the boys' asses. It ended up a disaster. Not only did the girls' team lose significantly, but several of them got injured during the game.

TL;DR Instead of moving away from toxic behavior guised as strength, many decide to emulate to achieve privilege.

I got to this sub through a link on another. I am not anti-feminist perse`. But an quiet onlooker on the whole social debacle that is society.

Anyway, if I may note one thing that has upset me in a minor way. It seems to be many Women (and Men) have noticed something over the years. They noticed that society respects and values, what they consider to be, "strength". "Strength", though, seems to also be conflated with some of the worst and toxic qualities any person can display.

Men who constantly seek to dominate at all costs. That statement might resonate positively for many - it might serve as a motivator, giving one that sudden boost in adrenaline resembling an epiphany or realization. Well, in my experience on this Earth... the actual result of that trait is a socially uncouth, toxic and ignorant person. I call them assholes... anyway.

And for years, lots of Women I would speak to despised that trait in Men. Albeit be attracted to them for one reason or another. I always thought that they didn't want the shame of openly admitting they found that behavior ideal.

Fast forward to today & it seem there are two conflicting messages. One is denigrating toxic masculinity and quite rightly so. The other is promoting the idea that Women should also engage in these behaviors. And now starting to notice more Women who have toxic mindsets like that of an old group of friends I once had.

Simply put; the reason for this is in my opinion quite simple. Male toxicity has always been respected as strength. Instead of forging ones own path, many have decided to achieve Male Privilege by emulating them but openly displaying the fact that they are Women. And lets not forget, many Men do this too. Men being the main culprits.

Ah.. Nike
