I think it all depends on how you view yourself. I'm making no judgements.

Some people view themselves through what they do for others. They need that "purpose" Some people are fine alone. Some people need others but are so hurt by the divorce that they won't let themselves be vulnerable again. This causes the loneliness and self loathing to creep in.

In general people need people, it's not good to be isolated. But needing a companion/relationship/love isn't in everyone's personality.

I'm +2 on my divorce, I'm currently fine without a love. I'm actually enjoying being an adult without someone telling me how to live.

I guess having kids kind of gets rid of some of the loneliness. But I'm not panicking about being alone.

38F. Ive been single almost my adulthood except for relationship-ettes and a 22 month marriage.

So, I guess between my chronic singlehandedly and all the hurt from my marriage and divorce, I'm not as gung ho about finding someone as you'd think I am.

However, I don't want to be single the rest if my life.

I admit that I can become very comfortable being alone. I'm amazed how much time I can spend watching tv, working out, playing video games, reading books, doing projects, etc. It was easier pre-covid when I also spent time at meet-up activities, drinking with co-worker after work, etc. But at the same time, when I go out and see a couple, I wonder "will I ever have someone who loves me?" I think also part of it is that I want new memories to replace those of my STBXW. Even if it doesn't work out, just the thrill of new love would be better than missing my marriage.
