Open a new account and start sending your paycheck there. All of your paychecks after the date of separation are separate funds and should not be commingled with money from prior to the separation.

As was said below, as long as you can account for any community property (money you had in savings prior to the separation date) you're good.

It doesn't mean it has to be where she can access it.

That said, make sure that by moving money around you're not cutting off her source of money she legitimately needs for living expenses during the divorce. That would not be viewed kindly by the court.

What I did: I gave most of my funds to my lawyer to hold for safekeeping. So long as you and your lawyer disclose that money to your stbx, you’re fine and she cannot got hold of it unless the court judge permits it.

I am in CA and going through this. Working with a mediator. My stbx had no clue of finances so it is taking time for her to come back with a counter to my offer. Per law everything should get divided and if you make more then you would have to pay CS if you’ve kids. Spousal support depends and you can negotiate some other way. You should put all your expenses down and see if you can come together on amicable way to negotiate. You can DM me if you need more details.
