Mediation is when you already agree on everything. Mediator works for both of you. It costs a fraction of having individual lawyers for each of you.

The only thing better than a mediator is amicable pro-se with lawyer review for durability. I suppose you could consider pure pro-se better but sometimes the MSA needs to be reworked after divorce, and that is difficult.

Make sure you lay the ground rules out first. I unwillingly agreed to mediation the day before a 10 day trial. While we were going through the process my ex's Lawyer slithered in for the last 45 mins. This was Vancouver BC.
