Don’t even know how to start this, but I’m gonna do my best.
I was away for school for my physical therapy clinical from Memorial Day until August 1, and that’s when shit started to hit the fan. My wife had started a new job in March after being with another company for over three years. She works in the medical field and, while that previous company did pay her well, there was a lot of burnout and terrible things that they made her put up with. When she ends up getting a new job, she felt like she had mental clarity with life. She finally started taking care of herself, quit drinking every night, smoking every night, and was able to start to deal with their problems head on, even though she refused to go see a therapist.
Try this whole time, and for the last two years, I’ve been in graduate school full-time, while also trying to take care of some of the responsibilities, if not all of their responsibilities at home. I tried my best to balance finances, make sure that the house had everything that needed, and was Picking up and dropping off our daughter at daycare to help as much as I could. My wife was making all the money, and I felt like I needed to do as much as I could to show her that I was doing my part.
I never tried to control money or leave her out of things, but I also didn’t make the best decisions when it came to money. I took out loans in my name for money that I wanted for things that I didn’t really need and just wanted, and I had that from my wife. That’s one of the reasons why the divorce is happening, but I feel like it’s such a small part of a compared to everything else. She feels that I am a narcissist, don’t have empathy, and have been controlling every aspect of our life for the last few years. It really pisses me off when she says that because I feel like I was not only her husband, her best friend, but also her therapist and I tried my best to help her navigate things because of the job that she was in will also trying to hold down the home.
We tried going to couples counseling and made it through two sessions before she said that she still wanted to move forward with the divorce. It all happened because she, in her own words, finally went through my financial documents. I really feel that it was just an excuse to finally give her what she wanted to have in the end.
The situation really sucks because, I don’t work, I am a full-time student still with my final clinical to go, and I have been cut out from all the money and have to give her a budget on what it is that I need. I won’t be working until November at the earliest, and even then it’s part-time, but I won’t have my full license until February 2026 I don’t have anywhere else to go, so I am living at the house that we purchased. We have a four-year-old together. And as I’m writing this post, I feel very lonely and alone.
