They don't. Once a woman is done with you she is done for life. There is no way for her to turn on that light switch for you romantically ever again. Her love for you is familial only now, so what you are hoping for is akin to her having a romantic relationship with a brother....not going to happen.

It's tough, we've all been there, the pain will lessen with time.

Stay amicable for your own sake and to honor what you once had. Do not try and be friends in the beginning tho, you will need a few years of no contact to let go and heal.

Women initiate most divorces. They are also very good about not telegraphing their intent and not directly communicating. Stop to think about this for a moment. How often did your wife out and tell you what she wanted versus having to spend a lot of energy trying to puzzle it out?

If women did, you would have been working on the issue.

As a relationship dies you will go through the 5 stages of grief. Look them up. Part of grief will be denial. I think that manifests as wanting the relationship to repair. I’ve seldom seen that.

Even if you had the rare circumstance where your wife did come back, would you want exactly what you had or would you want to make changes to the underlying marriage if only to address the issue that caused her to file for divorce in the first place?

Only you can answer these questions and right now and it’s really fucking raw. I am sorry for that brother.

If they ever come back this only after you move on and no longer want them back.

So get working on healing without her.
